AC-5 Can explain the ideas and concepts that they are learning about

Why did light make the iceberg appear different above and below water? 

Pupils first explored facts about icebergs to instigate discussion. They then followed the tasc wheel approach to try and find the answer to the key question. 

They enjoyed looking at different sized icebergs and shared ideas and observations about 10% of the iceberg no matter what size sits above the surface of the water and the 90% below. They then looked at the icebergs from below the water and made other observations. They discussed the scientific process of 'Refraction' and focussed on writing a scientific conclusion.
