Sport Relief 2018
Pupils and staff have been involved all week participating in many events and activities to support Sport Relief. We finished the week with a dress up day. Children and staff wore a range of sporting outfits and many dressed up as their sporting heroes.
They had great fun planning and designing their own obstacle course and thoroughly enjoyed testing it out! Great effort all! Thanks you for everyone's support in helping to raise money for this worthwhile course!
Darwin Science Trip to Colby Woodlands
Class 5-1 enjoyed their day out at Colby Woodland Gardens this week. They explored the rivers and pond looking for life and identifying different creatures using identification keys. They were also able to recall their recent knowledge of how the the water cycle works in order to answer many questions. A huge thank you to Darwin Science, a great day enjoyed by all!
Fire Safety 2018
Lee Simmons from the fire service visited year 5 today to talk to the children about fire safety and prevention in the home. They looked at electrical items and discussed the problems of overloading electrical sockets with too many devices.
Amroth Coastal Challenge
Pupils had a great time this week participating in the Amroth Coastal Challenge.
Week beginning 12th February
Pupils from year 5 are visiting Amroth beach this week to take part in an organised coastal challenge involving the natural erosion of the beach. Pupils will be engaged in a range of practical activities whilst applying their literacy and numeracy skills to help them. Remember to dress for the occasion with coats, warm clothing and appropriate footwear.
Please check the letters that your children have brought home to see the date in which your child's class will be attending.
#SID Safer Internet Day 2018
This week year 5 pupils have got involved in raising awareness about how to stay safe on line. Amongst other activities pupils have created posters with their own acronyms to display the important messages!

7th December 2017-Festive Santa Run in aid of Welsh Air Ambulance
Year 5 along with the whole school got into the Christmas spirit today by participating in our charity festive run. A huge well done and thank you to all pupils, staff and of course the parents for their generous donations and support.

Parent and pupil Christmas Craft morning
Year 5 were in the festive spirit this morning as they welcomed some of their family into school to take part in their Christmas craft morning. Together they enjoyed making a range of craft to sell out our school Christmas Fayre later this month. We had some wonderful products as a result of this and parents enjoyed themselves with their children too over a coffee and mince pie!

27th October-'Celebration of Excellence afternoon'
Year 5 pupils were amongst many other pupils from across the school today who were responsible for talking to our school Governors and parents about all of the wonderful work that goes on in our school. A big thank you to all those pupils from various pupil voice groups that spoke so confidently throughout the afternoon. Also a big thank you to all those parents, friends, Governors and members of our community who came along to support us.
Pupils made an early start getting involved in Halloween fun this week. They didn't just dress up in their Halloween outfits but were invited to decorate a pumpkin as part of a competition and bring it into school to be judged. In year 5 alone we were delighted with the response and enjoyed looking at all the different creations! It was very difficult to judge a winner as all were amazing. However the overall winner was awarded to Ella Youell!

16th October Shwmae Day!
Pupils in year 5 had fun celebrating Shwmae day today! As part of the fun to celebrate they carried out some great activities. They design new costumes and outfits for Mr Urdd, showed off their creativity with some grafiti writing and to top it off baked and decorated their own biscuits! Much fun was had by all!
Outdoor Learning Day
Year 5 pupils were amongst many others in school today to step outside and take part in outdoor learning. Year 5 visited the park to collect natural resources and then returned to school where their creativity began! They worked well within their groups to create their very own South American tribal masks with clay and the resources that they had collected from the park. Their creations were all absolutely amazing! Take a look at the wonderful works of art that they cleverly created.
Pupils also got their fingers dirty and got stuck into the overgrown planters outside of their classrooms! They have bow planted new bulbs that we can watch grow and look after! Diolch !
Shwmae Day-16th October
Remember Shwmae day is on the 16th October and we're inviting all pupils to wear something red, white or green to celebrate the occasion. We will also be taking part in fun activities in school on this day! Make sure you're in school so that you don't miss out on the fun!
25th September 2017 Fair trade hunt
Pupils enjoyed a trip to their local Tesco store today to carry out a Fair trade hunt. As part of our topic on Fair trade pupils had to find a range of products displaying the Fair trade badge, identify their country of origin and make price comparisons with those of non-Fair trade items.
