At present we are using our outdoor time for our daily 1km run and exercise. Please ensure that children wear sensible footwear e.g. no sandals and are dressed appropriately for the weather e.g. outdoor coat if needed. Please dress your child in PE clothing on a Wednesday, as they will have PE on Wednesday afternoons.
Children are encouraged to read every day at home. This year due to COVID restrictions we are giving out 3 reading books on a Monday and these need to be returned to school on a Friday. We will then give out another 3 books the following Monday. Once we establish the home readers we will begin to use the Lego Challenge to encourage reading at home. Every time your child reads at home they will get a stamp on their Lego Reading Challenge chart. Prizes are given for each stage of the reading challenge and Lego is put together to make a visual display in class.
Passwords for HWB will be sent home, children are encouraged to use this regularly at home. We will also send home the 110 club and Big Maths for you to support your child with.
Children and parents are encouraged to access Flipped Learning videos via the 'Flipped Learning' link below. Maths videos will be uploaded every Friday for you to watch with your child, this will help them with their pre-learning for the following weeks activities. My Maths tasks are also set regularly, log in with the passwords that will be sent home.
Good behaviour and work is rewarded with stickers for their individual sticker charts giving the children the opportunity to receive rewards. The children also receive ‘Seren Cymraeg’ for making an effort to speak the Welsh language throughout the school day. we are also beginning to use J2 Stars on Hwb to reward children.
We follow the behaviour charter that the children have devised based on the UNCRC rights of the child. This ensures that all children are treated equally and fairly when we are dealing with any issues. Copies of this are displayed around the school and updated regularly by the RRS pupil voice group.
